How to take care of the skin

Facial skin care is not as complicated as some think. With the right attitude and discipline, one can actually create a facial skin care routine that will help bring about that healthy glow. Below are just some tips that can help you start.

1. Get a good night sleep

They did not call it beauty sleep for nothing. Having the right amount of sleep can actually help the skin regenerate. This is also the time when the skin can breathe in from going all day with make-up.

2. balanced diet

Eating lots of fruits and vegetables can help the skin stay supple and soft. In fact, foods that are rich in Vitamin C and E are good for the skin as it serves as excellent anti-oxidants.

3. Moisturize

The skin on the face needs to be kept moisturize all the time as this is the part of the skin that is often exposed to the sun and the harsh environment. Moisturizing the skin will help prevent the appearance of wrinkles and lines that may let you appear older than you really are.

4. Cleansing routine

It is important that one follow a cleansing routine every day. Remember that it is a cardinal rule to always remove the make-up before going to sleep. Turning in the night with make-up on will only result in clogged pores and eventually, acne. Although there are products that go great for certain types of skin, experts recommend the use of mild soap especially to those who have sensitive skins.

5. Sunscreen

The sun�s harmful ways can bring much damage to the skin. In fact, the sun is the number one culprit when it comes to wrinkles and dark spots. The sun can destroy the skin�s natural protection. That it why it is important that you put sunscreen every day, even when you are not planning to go to the beach or to go out. Experts recommend the use of sunscreens that have SPH 15 or higher for all day protection.

Use Essential Fatty Acid To Help You Prevent or Eliminate Your Acne

To eliminate or clear your face of acne it will require you take a variety of health steps. The use of essential fatty acids is but one step. I have identified 10 different steps but will only discuss one step in this article � using essential fatty acids.

Getting sufficient essential fatty acids is of prime
importance in clearing acne. It�s these fatty acids that help
to control the production of excess androgens � the hormones that
surge during the teen-age times It is androgens, which causes excess
sebum oil to clog your hair follicle and contribute to creating
your acne.

The three fatty acids you need to get daily are:

�omega-3

�omega-6

�omega-9

When you are deficient in these essential fatty acids, you will
have,

�A weaken immune system

�Inflammatory disorders

�Poor skin

�Skin eruptions and other wounds that won�t heal

�Sebum production increases (this is what happens

when you have acne)

�Sebaceous glands size increases

Eating essential oils are necessary to provide you the right oils that
are used in the sebaceous glands. These oils can come from
straight vegetable oils or from oils in specific foods such as
nuts and seeds.

Here�s what you need to do. Use flax seed oil (omega-3 oil) and olive oil (omega-6 oil) in your salad. These are the best oils to eat and are called polyunsaturated fatty acids.

The other oil that is even better for you is called monounsaturated fatty acid or omega-9. This oil is found in avocados and somewhat in olive oil.

Most diets people have contain an excess of omega-6 oil (olive oil),
so mostly likely you need to concentrate on getting more
omega-3 oil (flax seed oil) into your diet.

You can get omega-3 oil from,

�avocados

�sesame seeds

�pumpkin seeds

�walnuts

�dark leafy green vegetables (spinach, mustard greens, kale)

�wheat germ oil

�salmon

�sardines

�albacore tuna

Or, you can take one to two tablespoon of flax seed oil,
omega-3 oil, each day. This will give you the amount of
omega-3 oil that your body needs. You can add this oil to
your morning cereal, soups, smoothies, salads and other
liquid foods.

You can get omega-6 oil from,

�olive oil

�flaxseed oil

�flaxseeds

�grape seed oil

�pistachio nuts

�olives

�sunflower seeds

�chicken

�evening primrose oil

�pumpkin seeds

�pine nuts

Taking 2-3 tablespoons of omega-6 oil a day will give you
the amount of this oil that you body needs.

So, to control those androgens and help your body reduce the production of acne or pimples start using more essential fatty acids.

What You Need to Know About Back Acne

Although your back stays hidden most of the time, it is still prone to acne. You may not have the chance to wear that revealing backless dress or those swimming trunks if you have acne all over your back. Men are more prone to back acnes than women, although women may have breakouts as well.

Back acne is also many times jokingly referred to as �bacne�. It is more difficult to treat than acnes in your facial area. Oil is one of the factors that can contribute to acne breakouts. Your back has several sebaceous glands that generate oils, which is also the reason why your back area is prone to acne.

There are basically four reasons why acnes exist. When there is an increase in sebum production, acne is sure to breed. Hormones, bacteria and follicle changes also contribute to acne problems. Breakouts increase when your back perspires too much and sweat clogs your pores. It is recommended that you wear loose clothes made of cotton to promote good airflow.

If you are used to using backpacks, you might want to change this habit. Backpacks can rub through your back, which can cause irritation. They can also strain your back, which cause your back to sweat. You can opt to use shoulder or handheld bags instead.

Since sweat is your number one enemy, always see to it that you shower minutes after you finish heavy jobs or workouts. Buy one of those long back scrubbers and use it in every time you take a shower. You can also use a cleanser or exfoliator when you scrub your back. Be sure to get a mild formula since strong cleanser and exfoliators can irritate the skin quite easily. Just remember not to overdo it since too much scrubbing can tear the back of your skin. After you shower, you can apply ointments that have ingredients like salicyclic acid or benzoyl peroxide.

If home treatment is not suitable for you and acne is still present on your skin, it is best that you consult your dermatologist. They can prescribe oral antibiotics and other treatments that can be effective for your specific skin type and condition.

Acne has a collection of myths that continue to spread even when the facts have dispel them. It's important to know what these myths are because believing them will only prevent you from improving your acne skin problem. Understanding and knowing the facts will.

Poor Hygiene

Practicing good hygiene doesn't guarantee you'll eliminate acne. The extra washing and scrubbing can make your acne worst. You don't need to wash your skin more than two to three times a day using water and mild soap, then patting it dry. Do continue good hygiene habits, but don't expect it to make your acne go away on its own.

Diet

People have blamed chocolate or greasy foods for causing acne breakouts. This is not absolutely true. The same food may trigger a breakout in one person but not in another. To know if a certain food causes your acne, you'll need to eliminate it from your diet and see if your acne goes away.

Stress

Stress doesn't cause acne directly, but when you're under stress, your body will produce a hormone called cortisol, which can irritate your existing acne. In addition, medications to control anxiety or stress can cause acne. These drugs list acne as one of their side effects. You can try finding alternative ways to be less stressful and avoid taking drugs, which are known to cause acne as a side effect.

Go Away By Itself

Pimples might disappear, but for severe acne, it's best to seek treatment before conditions get worst. There are a number of over the counter remedies for acne. If your problem doesn't go away with OTC drugs, then you should find a dermatologist for help.

Tanning

Tanning darkens your skin and only serves to cover up the acne so you don't see it as well. However, this will dry the skin and irritate your acne resulting in more breakouts. Some sunscreen lotions have oils or chemicals that could clog your pores and make your acne worst.

Popping Zits Make Them Go Away

Popping a pimple allows the bacteria to spread which leads to more infection and eventually scarring.

Teenagers Only

If you are an adult, then no one has to tell you that only teenagers get acne. Adults can get acne too. You don't grow out of acne when you are not a teenager anymore.

17 Years Acne Completely Under Control

The Acne Cure Step 1 - The Night Bath

Only 2 months of using the Acne cure method, my acnes have completely under control. Face cleared up twice as fast and pigmentation lighten. I have combined 3 steps of curing methods using Mother Nature natural resources to control my Acne, NO expensive creams, lotions, or prescribed medicines. Sorry this is not a 1 or 2 days cure method but you will see results in one or two week�s time. Usually I have outbreak after SEX, yes after sex� Not sure whether other acne suffers have this problem, but after using this Acne cure methods, NO more outbreaks!

Here comes the cure�

Step 1.

Daily routine - THE NIGHT BATH

You must do this every day or twice a day if not convenient for you. THE NIGHT BATH ingredients you need are:

4 Cups of Dead Sea Salt (Normal sea salt will do but not as effective)
4 Cups of Epsom Salt

Why Dead Sea salt and Epsom salt? Epsom salt is well know for expelling toxins out of your body and Dead Sea salt contains minerals and naturally occurring chemicals found in dead sea which could replenish your body lost minerals and also for its antiseptic properties.

Fill your bath tub with the mixtures and lukewarm water, soak yourself inside for about 20-30 minutes. If you are not afraid that the salt will irritates your eyes, you can sink yourself totally into the water as long as your breath can hold. About 20-30 minutes later RINSE YOURSELF WITH COOL WATER.

Note: If you can�t access to bath tub, than mix 3 tablespoons of Dead Sea salt and Epsom salt with 1 tablespoon of warm water (not too watery) and a few drops of tea tree oil in a bowl, mix them well. Choose a comfortable area to lie down and apply the mixture on your face, neck or back. Avoid broken skin area, rinse with cool water after 20-30 minutes. This method is not as powerful as soaking yourself in the salt water, but it does helps.

You will have a very relaxing feeling with just 20-30 minutes of miracle salt bath. As I mentioned earlier, this step has to be done everyday until your skin condition improved. After I found this cure than remember when I was 8-12 years old, my dad used to bring me to swim in the sea and my skin was flawless. So if possible, go swim in the sea few times a week. So much for step 1 and if you do it consistently, you can see results very soon.

Acne Myths: How Conventional 'Wisdom' Prevents You From Curing Your Acne

Do a Google search for 'acne myths' and you'll see what I mean. You'll end up with an almost endless list of articles about acne myths - all parroting the same old things. Let's take a fresh look at some of these acne myths and how the 'conventional wisdom' may have prevented you from curing your acne

The so called acne myth 1: Acne is caused by diet

This is one of the most common ones. Internet seems to be full of 'experts' quoting studies from the 60s saying that no scientific link has been established between diet and acne. That's true, but it's also equally true that it's nearly impossible to study such a link.

Consider the following quotes by different doctors: (Dermatology Times - 5/1/2003)

"There are still a lot of people around who claim that if they eat a lot of chocolate, they break out worse. I don't know that there are any good, scientifically controlled studies." -Lee J. Vesper, M.D

"Teen diets vary so widely, you have to have a very controlled study, and how can you do that with teens? You can't trust teenage boys. There's no way you can dictate a diet for any length of time that would have an impact on the skin." -David M. Spencer, M.D.

"A number of years ago, there was a study that said chocolate was not a factor in acne. That was funded by the Hershey Corporation. Some studies had college students eat a certain diet, and offered compensation for that, but they were never really hard, double-blind studies because, how do you do that with food?" -Dennis D. Knutson, M.D.

"I do think the issue needs to be re-looked at, because there have never been very good studies." -on the subject of diet and acne, Dennis D. Knutson, M.D.

And that's just from one issue of one magazine!

The truth of the matter is that there are no scientifically valid studies to prove a point in either direction. Just use your common sense.

Ok, what's your average Western diet compromised of? Potatoes, bread (mostly wheat), meat, milk and other dairy products, sugars and fats.

Now, what do all those things have in common? They are hard to digest and take long time to digest and/or don't digest properly. They sit long time in your stomach giving all the millions of bacteria there time to putrefy them. When something putrefies in your stomach you know it's not good. You can smell it once the stuff comes out.

Point being, that all those foods create a lots of toxic or acidic waste during metabolism that needs to be eliminated. Your liver is your primary organ for doing that, along with colon and kidneys. However, those organs have only a finite capacity for handling that stuff.

What happens when they reach that capacity? Your body pushes all those toxins out through secondary channels (your skin and lungs, for example).

Now, guess in what kind of environment all that 'bad', pimple producing bacteria thrive? Yes, they like acidic/toxic environment. And you just discovered that your body is doing a hell-of-a-job in providing your skin just that.

Could this contribute to acne?

The so-called acne myths 2 & 3: Stress, sex/masturbation causes acne

Let's deal those together since the mechanisms are basically same.

Levels of certain hormones affect your sex drive. Having sex causes your body to release hormones. Your body responds to stress by releasing hormones. Simple, we all know this.

Once those hormones have served their purpose your body needs to process them to less active stuff and expel them. You probably guessed already that your liver is responsible for processing most of the hormones.

Now your liver is probably already fully booked with all the stuff that you eat. So it needs to push some of the toxics, that it would have otherwise processed, out through your skin to deal with the extra load.

Those hormones alone are probably not enough to cause acne. Combine them with a bad diet (which 90% of the Western population has) and they can make things worse.

The so-called acne myth 4: There is no cure for acne

If you keep on with the life style that caused acne then this acne myth is true. Acne is an effect not a cause. As long as you maintain the cause (overload of toxins/acids) nothing will permanently remove the effect (acne). Clean up your system and acne will be gone all by itself.

Don't let your hopes down because of some 'debunkers' whose only intention is to continue selling you ineffective acne products that will never cure your acne.

Get a fresh perspective on acne, take action and claim the skin you deserve.

After all - if you continue doing the same things you are going to get the same results.

The manufacturers who promise quick fixes and fast and miraculous cures for acne have been setting up acne sufferers and their families for a big let down. In an unholy bid to capture a major segment of the acne market, manufacturers have taken leave of their sacred responsibility.

Promising the acne-suffering, buying public overnight relief, the manufacturers have sold the public a whammy. They have polluted the atmosphere with the false expectation that acne will be dealt with quickly by their miracle-cure drugs. Nothing has been farther from the truth. The public truly feel let down.

Along comes the laser manufacturer, extolling the superior virtues of laser treatment. This treatment is such, that when the acne sufferer rises from the hospital workbench, he is practically told� �take up thy bed and walk, my laser has made thee whole.�

Acne and its remnant scars have all but disappeared. Two or three more miracle laser treatments and acne is a defeated foe. Sadly, the acne sufferer has once again been sold another whammy.

Let us take a minute and see what acne and the miracle laser treatment have to do with a 6 month hiatus.

The First Appearance Of Acne

The first time acne appears it is telling you something. It is saying that there is an internal problem. The underlying cause of acne is always an internal one.

Since you are what you eat, you need to consider your diet. Is it greasy fast foods? Rotten dead meat? Remember, as soon as you kill an animal for food its flesh begins to rot!

What is it that has caused acne to surface? Topical surface treatments really adopt the band-aid approach. This approach is not entirely wrong. When people are in the throes of a painful acne attack, they need relief. These topical treatments provide that relief. However, they are not a cure.

The Miracle Of Laser Treatment

Recently, a leading dermatologist said this, "I believe that laser-based applications for acne will one day become the preferred treatment option for acne patients, many of which are dissatisfied with topical and systemic treatments and are wary of their risks and side effects,"

This doctor went on to explain that after laser treatment for acne, a marked reduction in acne lesions often occurs within a couple of treatment sessions, and a series of treatments should result in �acne clearance for more than six months.� The good doctor is talking about a six-month hiatus for acne, not a cure.

It is imperative that we refocus on the underlying reason for the flare-up of acne in the first place. Chasing symptoms is only designed to line the pockets of a select few. Curing acne for 6 months is not an acceptable outcome.

Consultation with your family and at least two doctors is definitely the way to go before any decisions are made. Do not glibly accept the words of a doctor just because he is a doctor. At the end of the day, it still is your body.
